INSPIRATION
Art has a strong influence in their practice but Laurent and Paul’s love of travel has also made a great impact on their creative process. Through their adventures, Paul and Laurent have discovered many influential places and cultures. The worlds they’ve discovered are so disparate, ranging from spectacular natural wonders to intricately designed architectural splendours. This spirit of travel infuses their work where they explore the dialogue between visual arts, architecture, and the evocation of nature and cultures. Each piece has been handcrafted with elegant and playful forms, unexpected, esoteric colours - lovingly designed and handmade with tactile, luxurious materials.
Bird in Space by Constantin Brâncusi - MOMA New York
The first collection is called ‘Flight’ in reference to Constantin Brancusi, one of their favourite artists. The title refers to both the launch of BelBar Studio and Laurent’s exciting new career chapter. An iconic motif featured prominently throughout the collection is their broken chain link symbol which is featured on key pieces.
This broken chain represents both a new path for Laurent professionally and is also a mark of complete liberty in the creative process for the pair. This not only epitomises the core message of the company, Creativity Set Free, it has also provided BelBar Studio with the vital spark of inspiration and the aesthetic behind its first conceptual capsule collection, Flight: A New Departure.
